Geographic location

La Bastide de Bouche is located just 20 minutes away from Aups, in the Haut Var. Nestled in the first foothills of the Alps, at an altitude of 505 metres, Aups is mid-way between the sea and the first snow slopes. This idyllic situation means the climate is healthy, dry and temperate.

The village of Aups and its surroundings sit within the Parc Naturel Regional du Verdon, at the southern entrance to the Gorges du Verdon, a spectacular natural canyon. The area is also known for its gourmet culinary specialities: wine, honey, olive oil and above all the black truffle. Its winter truffle market is one of the biggest in France. Granted a ‘droit de foire’ (a market right) since the Middle Ages, Aups holds two typical markets every Wednesday and Saturday mornings, as well as the night markets organised in the square in front of the Town Hall, under the shady plane trees.
